My name is Mady…
I’m a West Texas adventurer with a deep-rooted connection to the Big Bend region. I lead backpacking, hiking, and river tours, through Hidden Dagger Adventures, sharing the wild beauty of this landscape with others. I hold a bachelor’s degree in wildlife management and a master’s degree in conservation, with both of my studies focused on the ecosystems and wildlife of the Big Bend region.
When I’m not exploring down in Big Bend National Park, you can usually find me at the Chihuahuan Desert Nature Center working in the visitor center and botanical garden, helping people connect with the incredible desert environment.
My connection to this place runs deep. My family history traces back to Big Bend itself—my grandmother quite literally grew up with Santa Elena Canyon as her backyard. That legacy is part of what inspires me to keep exploring, protecting, and sharing this remarkable corner of West Texas.
